Layla Mattress Firmness & Feel
Layla’s mattress has two firmnesses, and can be turned. Let’s take a look at Layla’s mattress from both sides to see how it feels and what its firmness is.
What is the firmness of the Layla mattress?
Layla’s soft side is covered with thick layers of memory foam. It is 6/10. The Layla was voted the best soft mattress because of its soft side. On the other side, there will be a thin layer underneath of memory foam and a thicker support. This is why the firm side feels more firm, almost like an 8/10.
Layla Mattress
Layla’s soft side doesn’t suit us. Our hips sink into a mattress that doesn’t provide the support and lumbar support we need. Side sleeping on Layla’s soft, padded side is very comfortable. We feel almost no pressure in our hips and shoulders. This mattress is one of the best for neck and shoulder pain. Stomach sleeping: The Layla has a soft side that is not supportive enough for our hips and the rest of our bodies.
We are receiving all the support that we need below our hips.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 130 lbs
Layla’s firm side makes it more comfortable for those who sleep on their backs. They can still receive sufficient support from their soft side. They will feel great pressure relief when they sleep on their soft side. However, they will still receive solid support if you sleep on your firm side.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lbs
Layla mattresses are recommended for heavier back sleepers. They should find the right balance of support, comfort, and support. For larger persons, side sleeping is possible. The firmer side might not offer enough support for larger stomachs.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 Pounds
Layla is great for people who are light-weight. The Layla should provide enough support for side-to-side sleepers. Stomach sleepers need enough support in their hips and throughout the body. Our top list of best mattresses for light sleepers

Layla Mattress Performance
We tested the Layla mattress and measured its motion transfer and cooling. Check out Layla’s test results!
Cooling
Layla is an all foam mattress, so it will sleep hotter than hybrid and innerspring mattresses. The Layla’s copper infusion and Thermogel coverings will make it cooler than other memory foam mattresses. Copper and Thermogel should draw heat out of the sleepers, and keep the top of the mattress cool.
Motion Transfer
The Layla was better at handling motion transfer than any other material. With a glass water, we could easily press the Layla’s soft side. The water did not cause any problems. Although the Layla mattress’ firm side caused more disturbances, it was not enough to cause major problems.
Edge Support
Layla mattresses are all-foam, and do not offer much edge support. When the mattress is on its soft side, it can fall quite a bit. The mattress doesn’t collapse as much if we sit on the firm side. However, this position is still not very comfortable. Laying on the Layla mattress doesn’t feel safe.
Durability
Layla mattresses have high-quality foam layers. They are expected to last between 7-10 years.
Off-gassing
When the Layla mattress was first taken out of its box, the initial off-gassing took place. The mattress was completely gone after we placed it in a ventilated area for 48 hours.
Noise
The Layla makes very little noise when it is being moved around. This problem is common with hybrid and innerspring mattresses, but not with Layla all foam mattresses.
Sex
People who use a mattress to sex need something buoyant and responsive. It should also be easy to move on the mattress. Layla’s mattress has soft memory foam, so it isn’t as responsive.

Layla Vs Layla Hybrid
Layla Hybrid is different from Layla Hybrid in terms of their support layers. Layla Hybrid features support coils, whereas Layla Hybrid includes base foam. Despite the difference in construction, both mattresses are similar in firmness and feel. Both have a soft and firm side. They both have a slow, steady feel.
Layla Hybrid has some advantages over Layla mattresses. Layla’s support layer, which is made of coils, makes the Layla Hybrid more breathable, supportive, and durable than Layla. The Layla Hybrid however is more costly due to these improvements.
Layla mattresses work well for both light- and medium-weight sleepers. Layla hybrid mattresses are ideal for hot and large sleepers.
Layla vs. Casper
Both the Layla as well as Casper come with all-foam mattresses. They are however different in many ways. The Layla can flip, while the Casper cannot. The Layla does not have a zoned construction, while the Casper does. The Layla has a firmer side than the Casper. It is firmer than the Casper. The Layla is more traditional in memory foam feel than the Casper, while the Casper has a more balanced feel.
These differences make the Layla and Casper better for different types. Layla is the better choice for side-sleepers or those who love to sink into their mattresses. Combination sleepers as well as those who prefer to lie on top of their mattresses should consider the Casper.
